When you’re a child you dream of being a nurse, or a fireman, a pilot, or maybe a doctor. When you enter high school the question becomes more serious, “What do you want to do when you finish school?” Then it comes time to choose subjects and before you know it you are applying to university or college or a trade school. One should know what they want to be by the time they enter tertiary education right? Wrong. That is not always the case. Yes a lucky few will know exactly what path in life they want to take, they’ll study hard, get the degree and then get the job. For many others it’s a long haul that often requires a little faith.
Choosing a career path is not an easy decision, it takes knowing yourself well enough to know where your strength and weakness lie. When you are an 18-year-old school leaver it’s highly doubtful that you know who you are yet. Often we have to step into a job or a line of work that maybe you aren’t sure about. The good thing is that there’s nothing wrong with that. We all have to do things in our lives that may not be exactly on the path we thought we’d take. This is where we learn a lot about having faith in the working world.
Sometimes we need to have a little faith to make it a little further!
Having faith doesn’t mean blinding oneself to the realities around them.
Having faith means being sure of what you cannot yet see.
Having faith means putting in the hard work now cause the reward will come later.
Having faith means trusting that even if this isn’t the work you want to do now, one day you’ll get there.
Having faith means answering to authority and being humble to instructions.
Having faith means placing the desires of your heart into the hands of God, knowing full well that his plan is a great one.
Having faith means even when you make a mistake you push on and don’t give up.
Having faith means relying on God through every decision, deal or loss.
Having faith means giving up control, trusting that God has given you the wisdom to make wise business decisions.
Having faith means committing your business to God and asking him to bless your work.
Having faith means being kind, generous, and trustworthy to your colleagues and clients.
When we enter the working world with faith, we enter into an agreement that in Christ the solid rock we stand, in him we can do all things! That is what it means to have faith in business. So it doesn’t matter if it takes you a little longer to find your career or passion or business path. What matters is the faith you show and the trust you place in God’s plan for your working life.
